    Description

Here's a one-of-a-kind addition to any serious tinplate collection. This Switch Tower with functional knife switches stands 13-1/2-inches tall. Its sheet brass base measures about 9-1/2-inches by 10-1/2-inches. Features two opening doors, removable roof, thick window pane glass for windows and a number of knife switches for on/off control of various lights, signals and accessories. The brick sides and roof tiles are not lithographed: They are hand painted. So is the stone design on base.
Roof and base are brass, as is the green trim. Walls are sheet metal. This accessory might have been produced by a skilled hobbiest or very small toy train manufacturer, which I'm guessing would have been located in Pre-War Germany. The piece dates to the teens or 1920s. I have not tested the wiring. A very unique addition to any collection.
